What is the the Largest Human Organ?

If your answer was "Liver", you are not alone. That is the majority of answers typically received for this question.

The actual answer to this question is: YOUR SKIN!

Kind of a trick question some may say, especially at this time on a Monday morning!

The skin is considered an organ because it has some very specific functions — like maintaining body temperature and protecting the other organs from bacteria — that require some specialized tissues.

If you could “jump out of your skin,” the average adult would be able to spread it out to cover more than 20 square feet! It would also weigh about 7-9 pounds.

So why am I telling you all of this information, and so early in the morning?

Well, for starters, we may be aware of what we are consuming for breakfast - the most important meal of the day, right? - but what about our other routines that we do EVERY day on a DAILY basis? I'm talking about what we put ONTO our bodies, as that is equally as important as what passes through our lips for consumption.

Your skin is the largest organ of your body - it absorbs the elements, and chemicals of every product you apply to your body.

How safe are the health and beauty products that you use EVERY day? Sometimes just reading the label isn't enough. It's hard to pronounce some of those ingredients, let alone know how many different unregulated other ingredients can be used that may be not be safe. Sure using a product here or there may not cause longterm irritation, or worse, dis-ease; it is the repetitive use day after day for many years of such products that we may just overlook, or blatantly just not want to know about, that can be harmful to bodies…skincare, hair products, make-up, sunscreen, toothpaste, perfumes, nail polish…

I agree it can be difficult to alter any environmental efforts that are out of our control, however we can take steps each day to minimize what we put INTO and ONTO our bodies by choosing natural and organic ingredients.
